Money I Spent: Jan 21 and 22 were very not-fiscally-fasty kind of days for me. Thursday, kiddo had a dental visit and afterward we stopped at Walmart to get her some toiletries (shampoo/conditioner, etc.). I ended up getting her pretty much whatever she wanted, and some extra groceries too. So $85 at Walmart. It adds up quick! Also $20 at Sonic for our lunch and a $5 tip for the carhop. On Friday, we had a dr. appt across town. It was 12:45 – 2:00, so I treated kiddo to McDonald’s afterward ($8). Then we went for the most fiscally unfasty thing a person could do: nail salon! Since we aren’t paying out the wazoo for volleyball right now, I told her she could get artificial nails. So we went to the nail shop and she got acrylic nails done, and I got a pedicure. Total after tip $110. On the way home, picked up takeout dinner at a local restaurant (Friday Fish Fry! yum) for about $45 for 3 meals, after tip. Back to zero dollar days for a while!
Money I Avoided Spending: I had planned to get a manicure too, but decided to put that off for a while, so that saved maybe $30. I also didn’t get myself anything from McDonald’s but that was mostly for diet reasons.
Money I Made or Found or Saved: eBay: sold a silver plated religious figurine for $90 (paid 50 cents at a thrift store for it). Sold a set of Boy Scout badges/patches for $14.
Use-it-Up Challenge: N/A really. Although when kiddo says she needs new shampoo and conditioner, that usually means I take her old bottles, add some water, and then mix them in with my own bottles. So I’ll do that this week.
Thoughts: 3 fairly spendy days in a row! Need to get back on track. I will also probably carry fiscal fast over as many months in a row as possible to try to save up as much cash as I can for the car downpayment.
