Money I Spent: $0

Money I Avoided Spending: n/a didn’t go anywhere or do anything, due in part to snow.

Money I Made or Found or Saved: eBay – had some auctions ending so sold 2 shirts for $2 each, a purse for $8, and then a gorgeous men’s Tommy Bahama silk shirt for $40.

Use-it-Up Challenge: Made 2 excellent meals out of fridge/freezer/pantry stuff! Lunch was grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, and dinner was DIY red chile beef enchiladas with cabbage on the side. I think we are now officially out of cheese, which never happens.

Thoughts: I was able to look at my upcoming paycheck online today and see how much my net “non-base award” is going to actually be. Not everyone got a bonus this year, so I feel very lucky and happy to be one of the chosen ones. (Gross annual bonus this year was $4700 which is quite excellent) but I always forget that not only are the bonuses taxed to kingdom come, but they are also considered in my 401(k) percentage for that pay period, so on top of whatever the tax percentage was, another 14% of the bonus went straight to my 401(k). Dagnabbit. So out of $4700, I ended up with about an extra $2,650. Luckily, all my credit cards are paid off and my emergency fund is nicely funded, so most of that is going straight to a special savings account where I’m saving up for the downpayment on kiddo’s car. We will be car shopping this summer sometime, and I hope to have about $6,000-7,000 in cash for the downpayment by then.
