THOUGHTS: I’m heading to the grocery store on Saturday just to take a peek at the meat situation. I think if it is plentiful, I will buy several things to fill up the freezer at home. Would be great if we could get some big pieces (turkey, ham, beef roast) without going broke!
We planted a bunch of leftover tomato seedlings in the outside garden yesterday. All I need to do now is rig up some kind of trellis/support system for them. We are out of tomato cages, so it will likely be a low-rent version of the Florida Weave (twine) maybe with some support from scraps of cattle panel fencing we have laying around. Then the only thing left to do is plant some extra squash and melon and cucumber seeds around the yard. I have this fantasy of my back yard (and front yard, now that I have a sprouting pumpkin) turning into a big squash/melon/pumpkin/cucumber patch. Mostly I just want to get the mess off the back porch so that I can clean it off, wash the table, and sit out there and read my book!
