Money I Spent: $117 on Amazon for a wide variety of stuff. All of it “wants” and none of it “needs.” Ending the month with a bang!
Money I Avoided Spending: Used $95 of Amazon rewards. The original total was about $212. Also, saw that kiddo was trying to order a 4-pack of something, but had accidentally selected 4 of the 4 packs. So glad I saw that mistake, which saved me about $48.
Extra Money I Found or Made: n/a
Use-it-Up: Had the last of the turkey in my work lunch. It was a turkey thigh, which I don’t typically choose out of the whole bird, just because the thighs and legs are so… ligamenty. But all that was left was a thigh and a leg, so that’s what I took to work. Got around most of the ligaments. Also, leftover turkey is better cold, with a lot of salt.
Don’t Go Into a Store: Success! I went into my work building and actually saw some other people in person. So I am done going out and people-ing for a while.
Exercise Every Day: Fail! Was at work 6:45 – 2:45 or so, then came home, watered all the gardens and seedlings, and then didn’t feel like exercising at all.
Work Outside Every Day: Just watered, which at this point is quite a task.
Thoughts: Last day of April! Stay at Home Day 50! Holy cow. We do not actually “stay home” 100%, but we do avoid stores as much as we can and avoid people. But it has been 50 days since we started this new way of living. I don’t know if I’ll be able to go back to working full-time in my office when this is all over. I hope we will be able to continue to work from home 2 or so days per week, even when life is back to normal. It is so nice not having to cram all the household tasks into our weekends! We do laundry just any old time of day. Work in the yard, exercise, or whatever, whenever we feel like it. Also, when the world opens back up, I know our weekends will be spoken for — volleyball tournaments, fishing trips, random road trips, etc. I actually think that this situation will be good for the relentless career burnout I’ve been dealing with for a few years. Not being at the office 5 days per week makes it way easier to go TO the office the other 2 days per week. So, let’s just ride it out, shall we?
Most of the stuff I bought on Amazon today was skateboarding equipment for the kiddo, who has decided to take apart and refurbish some old skateboards. I think she may paint them too. So, anything that keeps her doing things instead of staring at her phone, I am all for. Guitar – yes, skateboarding stuff – yes, art supplies – yes, even video games – yes. I also bought myself some pillow covers for our bed’s throw pillows and a summery throw blanket for my half of the bed (the current one I’m using is blue and has unicorns all over it). I had thought I might make some throw pillow covers out of a skirt I found in my eBay inventory, but just looking at this project feels like “1 thing too many.” Which I do to myself a lot. Half-finished projects everywhere, just taking up space and stressing me out. So I decided to just buy some pillow covers. I might take that fabric I found and stretch it over a canvas for a wall hanging though. hmmm. That would be super easy. I also find myself wanting to paint something, so maybe I’ll break out a canvas for that too. Or paint some rocks.
