Money I Spent: About $10, for one boba tea and one Starbucks cold brew. We needed to go for a drive, so we drove into town. Kiddo wanted boba tea, so we went and got her one. We used hand sanitizer before going in and after coming out, and she wiped down her cup with sanitizer. We went through the Starbucks drive-thru and did the same sanitizing procedure. I also wiped sanitizer on my car handles and steering wheel, etc. All tables and chairs have been removed/stacked up in both the boba place and Starbucks, since all restaurants are take-out only now. It’s pretty weird out in town. There are still people driving to and fro but much less. Parking lots are empty, stores and restaurants are shuttered.
Money I Avoided Spending: Didn’t go into any stores though the temptation is there to go pick up “just one more thing.”
Extra Money I Found or Made: eBay: $17 for a lapel pin!
eBay Expenses: $0
Use-it-Up Challenge: n/a
Decluttering Challenge: I decluttered and cleaned out the spice cabinet! I was able to throw away some looong expired stuff, get it organized, and clean the 1/2″ of random salt and spice crumbs of the shelves.
Thoughts: Covid-19 is a real thing. It’s happening whether we face it or not, whether we think we are immune or invincible or not. Whether we think we are healthy and it’s “just a flu” and we’ll be fine or not. It’s happening to the whole community. Things are shutting down, people are losing their jobs, and people are getting sick and dying. I think we are not even remotely aware of what our new normal might be at this point. So other than going in to work (where I do have to go through 2 gates and 7 doors to get to my office, so will be doing a ton of hand sanitizer and hand washing) 2 days a week for the time being, I’m going to stay home. They might shut that down before long too.
Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
