Money I Spent:  Grocery Day! We did so great on groceries today. Goal was $50 or less.
Sprouts: $5.89
Smiths: $32.50
Total: $38.39
We will roll the remaining $11 into the rest of the month’s grocery budget.

Money Victory ($ I avoided spending):  This is more of a thrifty coupon win. Normally I buy at least 6 little cups of yogurt per week (about 30 ounces total), typically at about $1 each, so $6 total. I saw that Sprouts had a 32-ounce container of the yogurt I wanted on sale for $4.99. Then I found on their app some mobile coupons… one for $3 off this yogurt, and one for $1.50 off this yogurt. When I checked out at Sprouts, they scanned my  barcode and it ended taking off BOTH amounts! So I ended up paying 50 cents for the 32 oz container of yogurt. We may have high-fived a couple of times over this one.  😀 It’s the little things.

Use It Up Challenge:  Needing something for dinner tonight, so threw the following into the crockpot: a couple of slices of bacon, 1/2 onion, some garlic, some celery, and some sweet peppers (all chopped and cooked together until the bacon was done), about 1 cup dried garbanzo beans, maybe 1/3 cup dried lentils, some green chile, some of the turkey stock I made with the Christmas turkey carcass, some leftover smoked pork that was in the freezer, and spices. This is all stuff we had already in the freezer and pantry.  I guess it will be some kind of bean soup type thing. Smells good.

Thoughts: We are entertaining ourselves today by de-Christmassing the house.

  1. Money I Spent: $0. (And see our big grocery win in Beth’s post.)

Money Victory ($ I avoided spending): I really wanted a post-CrossFit Nitro Cold Brew from Starbucks. I had the time and the means, but in the spirit of fiscal fast, I abstained.

Use It Up Challenge: Had leftovers for lunch.

Thoughts: Felt good to type “$0” today.
